ARTIST STATEMENT

With my work, I am primarily concerned with exploring ways to communicate the universality of all human beings.  Having extirpated religious ideologies from my worldview, I have become keenly aware of the various ways we human beings divide ourselves, oftentimes with disastrous consequences. Fundamentally, my work preaches and promotes tolerance, acceptance, and mutual respect.  These are qualities humans need to foster an empathetic world where all are allowed to realize their optimal selves.  Realistically, I know such a world will never exist because the long-range psychological development needed to bring it into existence goes against primal human nature. I am resolved to continue painting these concepts, however, because it gives my life meaning and purpose while I am here.
